The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago invites and welcomes artist, Kevin Beasley, to deliver this year's Deborah Goodman Davis and Gerald Davis Lecture.
Over the last decade, Kevin Beasley’s multifaceted practice of sculpture, drawing, installation, sound, music, and performance, has been deeply invested in drawing out the histories latent in everyday materials and connecting these dense pasts to the present cultural landscape. Beasley has been internationally recognized for his work, with a long list of exhibitions, residencies, and accolades. His willingness to engage critically and earnestly with contemporary issues and subject matters while pushing forth what art can look, sound, and feel like–makes Beasley one of today’s most exciting and freshest artists.
Established in 2018, through the generosity of Deborah Goodman Davis, the Deborah Goodman Davis and Gerald Davis Lecture Series brings vibrant voices to the University of Chicago’s Department of Visual Arts and the greater university community.
