Wilson Yerxa’s paintings are often conceived of as parts, like partial images from a poem in progress. The works make up a growing vocabulary from which he can cut, glue, stitch, or otherwise layer to create composite paintings and installations. The editing and collaging of fragments is a key part of his practice.

Wilson received his MFA in Visual Art from the University of Chicago in 2022, a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2020, and a BA in International Studies: Comparative Religion from the University of Washington, in Seattle, in 2011.
