Tuition, Fees, and Other Costs
Tuition information for a full-time MFA student can be found on the Bursar’s website for Tuition and Fees. Under the current academic year, navigate to the Tuition and Fees for the Arts & Humanities page. The tuition price per quarter can be found under Autumn, Winter, Spring Tuition, MA/MFA 3 courses. For additional information about fees and approximate costs of attendance, please visit the Grad Financial Aid Office for Cost of Attendance.
Fellowships
DoVA offers merit-based fellowships to all MFA students. Under the current funding structure, all MFAs (including international students) receive a 75% tuition fellowship in both the first and second year of the program. Admitted students will receive detailed funding information in their offer of admission.
Teaching Assistantships
MFA students are offered opportunities to teach during their time in the program. They typically receive official notice of their TA assignments in the Summer quarter before each academic year that they are in residence. MFA students are also encouraged to apply for assistantships in other departments across the university. TAs are paid positions that may provide other aid under the Graduate Student CBA.
Student Loans
Students may apply for loans through the Graduate Financial Aid Office. The loan application is separate from the application for admission. International students should also consult the Office of International Affairs for tips on applying for loans.
