Miao Wang was born and raised in China and moved to Chicago in 2011. She received her B.A. in Art History from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2016 and her M.F.A. in Visual Art from the University of Chicago in 2024. She is a maker, painter, and a person who desires knowledge through material exploration and rigorous conceptual thought. She received the Spark Grant from the Chicago Artist Coalition and a full fellowship to participate in Conversation in Practice from Ox-Bow. She had a two-person show at Heaven Gallery in 2023, along with paintings in numerous group shows in Chicago at The Plan, Patron Gallery, and the Logan Center for the Arts. She is a visual art teaching fellow at the University of Chicago (2024-2025), and a resident artist of the Monira Residency at Chicago (2024-2025).
