Join Mexico City-based visual artist Tania Candiani for a conversation on her artistic practice which has been developed in various media and practices that examine innovations of the past and present and materialize the translations between diverse systems of representation. Whether commenting on US-Mexico border law, gender inequality, scientific theory, or workers’ rights, she creates objects and actions that provoke empathy, critical nostalgia, and reflection on the commodification of time, land, and labor.

She has been a fellow of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte de México since 2012, in 2011 received the Guggenheim Fellowship for the Arts, and in 2018 the Artist Research Fellowship awarded by the Smithsonian Institution. Tania Candiani's work has been exhibited in museums, institutions and independent spaces across the globe, including the 56th Venice Biennial where she represented Mexico.
