Logan Center for the Arts, University of Chicago
Visiting artist Chantal Peñalosa will present an artist lecture of her performative actions archived across various media such as photography, painting, sculpture, installation and video. Through gestures and actions that intervene in everyday life, Peñalosa establishes unilateral dialogues with entities that apparently cannot respond: memories, rumors, architecture, stones, clouds, aromas. Her explorations deal with phenomena such as waiting, the unnoticed, and the passage of time, where she finds it possible to shine light on political and social aspects.
Born in Tecate, México and now living in the city of Tijuana, México, Peñalosa's work has been shown across many institutions in Mexico, Belgium, Russia, Germany, France, Colombia and more. She will be visiting Chicago as a featured participant in this year’s Lit & Luz Live Magazine Show taking place at the Logan Center for the Arts on November 4th.
Presented in partnership with the Lit & Luz Festival
