During the 2026 spring break, the Department of Visual Arts, along with Career Advancement and the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, organized a two-day travel to New York City for undergraduate students interested in learning more about the careers in the contemporary field of visual arts. Led by DoVA faculty member Anna Martine Whitehead, students who participated interfaced with a range of UChicago alumni network including practicing artists, curators, historians, collectors and patrons of the arts.
The group visited the artist studios of Nicki Cherry (AB'14), Ang Ziqi Zhang (AB'16), and Christopher Aque (AB’09); an alumni reception and conversation with Jurrell Lewis (AB’17) and guests; a museum visit with Amber Collins (AB’18); and a careers panel discussion with Theo Shure (AB’15), Samantha DiGennaro (AB’92) and more.
