Screening: Mother Art Tells Her Story

Screening: Mother Art Tells Her Story
Wednesday, January 8, 7PM-8PM
Hyde Park Art Center

Hyde Park Art Center will host a screening on January 8,  joined by Laura Silagi, Suzanne Siegal, and Deborah Krall. This forty minute video is a slice of history by Mother Art, a collective of eight women artists. Using art installations in galleries and public spaces, such as laundromats and banks, they explored the social and political issues that affected all of us. Mother Art Tells Her Story focuses on the turbulent times of the 1970’s and 1980’s, touching on issues of ‘women’s work,’ homelessness, reproductive rights, the nuclear arms race, activism, collaboration, and much more. All this is done through the use of personal narrative to make these issues accessible and human.
