Graduate Program: Financial Aid

DOVA offers a variety of fellowships and Course Assistantships to qualified MFA students. Fellowships range from partial tuition to full tuition and stipend. Students admitted without aid or small grants have the possibility of getting late awards by the end of the first year or in the second year based on merit.

To accommodate students' interests in teaching, the University offers paid teaching assistantships in undergraduate core courses, digital media, film, video and photography. Students interested in being a teaching assistant can apply to assist a regular faculty member in preparing, presenting, and evaluating one of our introductory Visual Language courses (101 and 102) offered every quarter. Those with the requisite technical experience can apply for paid assistantships in film, video, new media, and photography courses.

Beyond these paid assistantships, graduate students may seek the consent of an instructor to assist in any undergraduate class for additional teaching experience.

Students may also apply to teach their own courses in the University's Graham School of General Studies during summers or after graduation. A separate application process is required for Graham School courses.

In their last quarter of residence, students are invited to apply for a Post-MFA Teaching Fellowship, which offers the opportunity to teach a compensated Visual Language course under the mentorship of a faculty member.
