Graduate Program: Financial Aid

DOVA offers a variety of fellowships and teaching assistantships to qualified MFA students. Fellowships range from partial tuition (in the first year) to full tuition (in the second year). Students admitted without aid in the first year may receive late awards in the second year, based on merit.

To accomodate students' interests in teaching, the University offers paid teaching assistantships in most Visual Arts courses. Teaching assistantships are assigned for the academic year (Fall, Winter, Spring) during the preceding Summer quarter.

Beyond these paid assistantships, graduate students may seek the consent of an instructor to assist in any undergraduate class for additional teaching experience.

Students may also apply to teach their own courses in the University's Graham School of General Studies during summers or after graduation. A separate application process is required for Graham School courses.

In their last quarter of residence, students are invited to apply for a Post-MFA Teaching Fellowship, which offers the opportunity to teach a compensated Visual Language course under the mentorship of a faculty member.
